Overview
For Woocommerce merchants, you can now enable your customer to redeem rewards and spend points directly in cart, through a seamless, branded in cart redemption widget.
This guide explains how to enable this widget, how to choose if you want manual or auto apply of coupon codes and provides important information to know about how this widget works with various reward types, what customization is possible today and best practices.
What is the in cart redemption widget?
Based on client feedback and an effort to provide the most seamless rewards experience for them, we have build the in cart redemption widget.
This widget is deployed in the cart page, allowing customers to do the final step in completing their purchase by applying available rewards right there.
There are 2 versions of this widget:
the rewards dropdown widget
the variable reward type slider widget
How to enable in cart redemption widgets in Woocommerce?
These widgets sit on the plugin site, so you'll need to open the Lootly plugin page in Woocommerce and choose from the available options:
You can choose between 3 options:
None - No Loolty redemption UI in cart totals
2. Fixed rewards dropdown - pick a discount type from a list in the cart order summary - the dropdown displays 4 separate categories of rewards:
Available Rewards - the rewards you can spend points for;
My Rewards - rewards you have already obtained (spent points for), but haven't yet used on an order
VIP rewards - any entry or lifetime rewards that you get access to as part of a VIP tier
Referral Rewards - referral rewards you have obtained for a successful referral.
The customer has a clean view of the different categories of rewards and choose what to apply accordingly.
3. Variable points slider - choose how many points to redeem on this order. For the slider to work, a variable amount discount has to be configured in Lootly.
The widget is added in the cart page, allowing the customer to slide it and spend points from their balance to obtain a discount for the pending order.
Code application method
In the in-cart redemption widgets, the application of the coupon is always automatic when the customer clicks Redeem. This means, there is no copy and paste steps, eliminating all friction in the program engagement experience.
Language localization
The in-cart redemption widgets are available in multiple languages.
They will display their content on the cart page in the default language of your Woocommerce store.
If you change the default store language, the in-cart redemption widgets will change language as well.
Currently we support English, German, French, Italian, Serbian language.
This is the most seamless experience for the in cart redemption widgets.
Important things to remember about in cart redemption widgets:
If you have been using the previous version of the variable reward slider for Woocommerce, please remove the script. The plugin outputs the slider; duplicate code causes JS errors and double UI.
You can't use both in cart redemption widgets together; only one can be used at a time.
The program widget can be used with the in cart redemption widgets - if you wish to hide the program widget from the cart page, this would be something you can do on your end.
